Winter doesn’t mean that you have to pack up your UTV and put it away until the warmer months. With some extra precautions and tips, you can still have a fun winter experience! Here are some important things you should know before taking your UTV out for a cold-weather ride.

Preparing Your Vehicle

Before going out on your winter ride, make sure that your UTV is ready for the cold weather. Check all of the fluid levels (engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant) and make sure they are topped off. Make sure your battery is in good condition; if not, replace it or consider taking a spare on the trip with you. Finally, check your tire pressure — it’s important to keep it at the recommended level for both safety and performance reasons.

Gear Up

Preparing for cold weather rides means ensuring you have the right gear. Dress in layers so that you can adjust as needed depending on how warm or cold you get throughout your ride. You’ll also want to be sure that you have plenty of warm drinks and snacks with you — cold-weather riding will leave you feeling hungry and thirsty more quickly than usual! And lastly, don’t forget to bring along an emergency blanket in case of an emergency situation where help isn’t easily found.

Be Aware of the Weather Conditions

The most important thing when it comes to riding your UTV in the winter is being aware of changing weather conditions at all times. Pay attention to temperature changes throughout the day; if temperatures start dropping significantly, be prepared to head back home sooner rather than later. Also, keep an eye out for snowstorms or icy conditions as these can make riding difficult or dangerous very quickly. Be sure to dress appropriately for whatever type of weather conditions may arise during your trip!
